A.Rasool Shukralla<\/strong> \u2014 known as Alrasly<\/strong> \u2014 is an accountant with an MBA who has been explaining money and investing in Arabic since 2014. He is based in Bahrain, and explains the money decisions people in the region face \u2014 from managing a salary and debts to saving and building an investment portfolio. It started at the corner shop<\/h2>\n\n\n

I was small, standing in front of the sweets shelf in the grocery shop. I could see what I wanted, and I knew it was not happening.<\/p>\n\n\n

We were a family on a limited income. Not a story of going without \u2014 a story where every dinar had a job.<\/p>\n\n\n

Then I watched my father do the impossible<\/h2>\n\n\n

My father, God rest him, never got a sudden raise. What he did was organise his money and work extra hours \u2014 twelve hours straight, some days \u2014 so his family could live comfortably.<\/p>\n\n\n

I watched a family move up a level with my own eyes. Not through luck, and not because money arrived from somewhere. Through decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n

That was the first time I understood that your financial situation is something that can change \u2014 not something written down for you.<\/p>\n\n\n

Then I saw something I did not understand at the time<\/h2>\n\n\n

I started working at eighteen, straight out of secondary school, on a beginner’s salary, helping my family.<\/p>\n\n\n

Around me were people on exactly the same salary. Same level, same circumstances. One of them was drowning. The other was comfortable \u2014 not rich, comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n

The same income, and a completely different outcome. That question stayed with me for years: what is the difference between them?<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

I studied accounting, and found half the answer<\/h2>\n\n\n

When I graduated I noticed something simple that changed how I thought: money is not only managed inside companies. An ordinary person can manage their money the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n

That is where this started, in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n

The rest of the answer was in one sentence<\/h2>\n\n\n

It is not how much comes in. It is how much stays.<\/p>\n\n\n

You spend less, you save, and then you ask the question you have to ask: how do I grow what I saved? That is where investing came in.<\/p>\n\n\n

I was wrong about something important<\/h2>\n\n\n

The first time I heard about investing, I thought it was for wealthy people buying companies.<\/p>\n\n\n

Today I know it is the opposite. Investing is for anyone who can save \u2014 anyone. It is the way to keep your job and your life while your money works for you, without opening a business.<\/p>\n\n\n

I have an accounting degree and an MBA. But what I teach is not only out of books \u2014 I lived it.<\/p>\n\n\n

I watched a family move from one level to the next, and then I did it myself. My aim is straightforward: to get my family and me to the next financial level, and to take everyone who wants the same along with me.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n
